Cinderella Synopsis

Cinderella tells the story of Ella, a young girl who is known as Cinderella because she sits by the fireplace with the ashes after completing all of her housework. Cinderella is kind to all people and animals. She has enormous faith and believes that, in time, good things happen to good people.

After the loss of Ella’s mother, her father remarried, giving Ella a stepmother and two stepsisters. Shortly after this marriage, Ella’s father became ill and passed away, and eventually, the cruel nature of her Stepmother and Stepsisters had begun to reveal itself - and this is where our story begins.

The first scene opens with her stepmother and stepsisters bossing around Cinderella and ordering her to do all of the housework by herself. When her stepmother and stepsisters leave, Cinderella has a moment of peace while her nearby bird friends come to visit with her. They dance, play, and cheer her up as they help her with the house work.

After Stepmother and the Stepsisters return, someone arrives at the door - it is a royal messenger who has come to invite all young women to attend a ball, which will take place at the palace and where the Prince will be looking for his true love. Despite all young women being invited to attend the ball, Stepmother forbids Cinderella from attending. Cinderella finds comfort from her bird friend and from gazing upon a painting of her and her mother from when she was very young.

An old woman knocks on the door and asks to come in for a moment and rest her tired legs. Stepmother and the Stepsisters want nothing to do with this old woman, but Cinderella kindly welcomes her inside and helps her to sit, and it is not long before the old woman is on her way.

A dressmaker comes to the house with ball gowns for the sisters, along with a dance master to give dance lessons to the stepsisters, all in preparation for the grand ball. When she is alone, Cinderella dreams of what it would be like to attend the ball and maybe even to meet the Prince.

The old woman returns, and Cinderella again generously welcomes her into the house. Suddenly, the old woman transforms into a beautiful fairy - Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother! Because of Cinderella’s kindness, she tells Cinderella that she and all of her fairy friends will help her get ready to attend the ball. However, before the Fairy Godmother is able to complete her spell and send Cinderella off to the ball, she is interrupted by the menacing Keepers of Time, who cast a counterspell. At the stroke of midnight, the Fairy Godmother's magic will be broken, and Cinderella’s ball gown will turn back into her rags. The Fairy Godmother and all of her fairy friends shoo away the Keepers of Time and continue to get Cinderella ready for the grand ball.

Court ladies are excitedly greeting each other on their way to the ball. At the palace, the Court Jesters are there to entertain and greet guests as they arrive. Stepmother and the Stepsisters arrive at the ball and are excited to meet the legendary Court Jesters, who they have only heard about but never met in person before. The Prince arrives, and the festivities are well underway when things fall silent. A new mysterious guest arrives who nobody recognizes - Cinderella. The Prince and Cinderella look into each other's eyes and instantly fall in love. Everyone is having a wonderful time dancing, when all of a sudden, the clock begins to strike midnight. Cinderella knows that the spell is ending, and she must run away before anyone finds out who she is. She manages to leave without being recognized. The Prince is devastated that his new found true love has disappeared. The only thing left is a single glass slipper found outside the palace doors. The Prince declares that he will search the kingdom high and low to find his true love. He knows that whoever the glass slipper fits perfectly is his mysterious true love and the person that he wishes to marry.

The morning after the ball, the Prince and Jester arrive at Cinderella's house on their quest to find the owner of the glass slipper. After trying the shoe on the two stepsisters, the Prince is about to leave when he discovers Cinderella. After taking one look into her eyes, he knows that he has found her! Before leaving, Cinderella forgives her Stepmother and Stepsisters for their poor treatment of her. She goes with the Prince and they live happily ever after.
