This summer, Texture Contemporary Ballet proudly opens its milestone 15th season with Infinite Abundance.
Infinite Abundance is a rich tapestry of movement, featuring world premieres and returning favorites, all performed by the dynamic artists of Texture Contemporary Ballet. This program reflects the heart and soul of Texture--fifteen years of groundbreaking choreography, fearless exploration, and an unwavering commitment to sharing dance that inspires, challenges, and connects. Newly appointed Resident Choreographer Madeline Kendall Schreiber will be presenting her latest new work, Volery, which draws inspiration from the beauty and behavior of birds, transforming avian movement into stunning human form. Guest choreographer Haley Nolan delves into the unseen forces that pull us together and apart, using magnetic partnering to reflect connection and balance in her new work; Z E R O F I E L D. Artistic Director Alan Obuzor revives Glimpse, —the very first piece that he choreographed for Texture in 2011—featuring over 43 yards of fabric and an original score by Gabriel Gaffney Smith. The show title, Infinite Abundance, speaks to the overflowing wealth of creativity within our artists, the abundant support from our audience and community, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead. As we open this celebratory season, we honor the abundance of talent, inspiration, and passion that has fueled us for 15 years—and we invite you to experience that abundance alongside us. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or are discovering Texture for the first time, Infinite Abundance is an invitation to celebrate dance, creativity, and community. Texture Contemporary Ballet is a Pittsburgh-based dance company that fuses the power and precision of classical ballet with the freedom and creativity of contemporary dance to surprise and delight audiences and empower the next generation of dancers and choreographers. We were founded in 2011 by Alan Obuzor, and since then we have been creating and presenting predominantly new and original dance works for people who love to be inspired through dance. In our work, we enable our artists to take creative risks, and we help our audiences to experience their thoughts and emotions by forming connections through live movement and dance. |
