Texture's eleventh season kicks off with a special outdoor performance on Thursday, July 29th at South Park Amphitheater!
This program will feature new works by Artistic Directors Alan Obuzor and Kelsey Bartman! Alan Obuzor's latest work is a lively piece inspired by music from around the world. Music selections will feature compositions by musicians who hail from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Italy, France, Senegal, Mexico, Brazil, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dynamic, percussive, rhythmic, and festive, this piece will be a party for your ears and your eyes!
Kelsey Bartman's new piece, See how this goes, explores how friendships and family relationships can evolve over time - how we can grow apart from people, return to some, and completely separate from others. The piece uses music by Lubomyr Melnyk, a composer "noted for his continuous music, a piano technique based on extremely rapid notes and complex note-series."
We are also delighted to present Pittsburgh-based band Cello Fury as our musical guest! Bring your own chairs and blankets and enjoy a live performance! We're looking forward to dancing for you!
Tickets are free, but please reserve tickets in advance!
