As a new works company, we are always creating, experimenting, learning, and growing. This ongoing creative process enables us to continuously explore different ideas and present pieces by a variety of artists.
Each year, Texture Contemporary Ballet creates and presents more new work than most other companies across the country. We are very proud to offer our audience something that is new and fresh at every performance.
In this production of Transformations, Artistic Director Alan Obuzor premieres his newest work, which includes music curated to reflect themes of change, transition, and the natural ebb and flow of life that we all experience. The variety of musical artists in this piece include Anesthesia, Fun, Glass Animals, and The Airborne Toxic Event.
Resident dancer Madeline Kendall Schreiber's new creation explores the process of cultivation and growth - from planting seeds to rainfall, germination, and blooming. Rounding out the program is YES, a sharp work for two dancers, as well as an expansion of resident dancer Katie Miller's piece from our 2018 WIP performance, featuring music by Franz Liszt. Alan Obuzor's Breathe also takes the stage for the first time at the New Hazlett Theater - this piece was the first piece Texture created and performed outdoors during the return of live performances in 2021.
Invigorate your life and be inspired by our dancers' passion and artistry! Transformations is on stage March 15-17!
