As a new works company, we are always creating, experimenting, learning, and growing. This ongoing creative process enables us to continuously explore different ideas and present pieces by a variety of artists.
Each year, Texture Contemporary Ballet creates and presents more new work than most other companies across the country. We are very proud to offer our audience something that is new and fresh at every performance.
For this performance of Jumpin' Jive, Texture will premiere two new works - a new creation by Alan Obuzor, set to big band and swing music, as well as a new piece by company dancer Madeline Kendall, set to music from the 50s, 60s, & 70s. Returning for this performance is Obuzor's Can Reality Acutely Create Knowledge, a 19-minute contemporary ballet for seven dancers, set to music by composer Max Richter and others.
Dive into music of the past and enjoy as Texture brings it into the present - pairing it with fresh, exciting new movement! Jumpin' Jive is on stage July 15-17, and kicks off Texture's twelfth season!
