​Spark of Radiance marks the opening of Texture’s fourteenth season, packed with energy, creativity, and beauty!

Drawing inspiration from the title of our opening production, Artistic Director Alan Obuzor’s new work is inspired by radiant movement, music, and artistry. His choreography highlights sparks of unapologetic individuality for the dancers, as well as moments that reflect the feeling of coming together and community. With the stirring instrumental music, as well as the interwovenness of the dancers and choreography, the piece will allow the viewer's imagination to expand and explore.  

Guest choreographer Henry Steele Dillon’s "Mirage Arena" explores the trials and triumphs that present themselves when we face obstacles that have been fabricated by ourselves or those around us. This dynamic and athletic work is set to music by Max Richter and Hans Zimmer. 

Resident Dancer Madeline Kendall Schreiber’s new creation is inspired by the music of bluegrass musician Billy Strings, who has an incredible collection of work that ranges from fast and dynamic to laidback and heartfelt. By creating movement in harmony with his music, Madeline’s goal for the work is for the audience to get lost in the rhythms and words, tapping their feet one moment and reflecting on life in another.

Texture Contemporary Ballet is a Pittsburgh-based dance company that fuses the power and precision of classical ballet with the freedom and creativity of contemporary dance to surprise and delight audiences and empower the next generation of dancers and choreographers.

We were founded in 2011 by Alan Obuzor, and since then we have been creating and presenting predominantly new and original dance works for people who love to be inspired through dance. In our work, we enable our artists to take creative risks, and we help our audiences to experience their thoughts and emotions by forming connections through live movement and dance.
